Clocking my own hours in pajamas is really the ultimate blessing. I get to work from home, everyday. The best part about this is, I am able to create my own space, as opposed to working in someone else’s office. Since I recently moved, I had to downsize and buy smaller furniture for my new room. In a corner of my bedroom, I’ve curated a beautiful home office. Having a designated place to get my work done is vital to my business. Before finally selecting the perfect desk to work from, I was doing everything in bed. The idea might seem great, but it’s not the best way to stay productive. To get setup for work mode, I gave myself a task-list of things I needed to stay motivated. Here are a few tips to follow:
DESK & CHAIRS
Shopping for the right desk and chair, to accommodate my bedroom, was no easy feat. I searched high and low, and finally found a gorgeous mid-century design mini desk. It has a marble top, and can later be used as a vanity, if I move to a larger place. I opted for a Mongolian lamb fur stool. The shape isn’t ideal for my back, but it saves on space. If your home allows for it, I suggest buying a nice comfy chair.
As I mentioned, my room is quite small. Having the appropriate storage to keep my space neat and organized helps relax my mind. I promise you, clutter in your space will eventually clutter your mind! To keep the mess at bay, I ordered a few looker storage boxes because they’re really chic, and I am able to find everything easily. I have a thing for all things clear, so next on my list are these acrylic desk accessories.
Creating a productive vibe is the most important part of setting up my workspace. I need to be surrounded by things that encourage me to stay motivated. On my desk, I have crystals, scented candles, and notes of affirmation. Each crystal carries different healing properties, and helps me in so many ways. The candles make me feel warm and invited, and the notes are there whenever I pop my head up from my computer. I write the affirmations myself, but you can shop from a few I found on Etsy, below.
If you are in the market for new stones, or buying for the first time, you should check out Starlis + The Galaxy, Energy Muse, Crystal Cactus and Inscape. There’s also an Inscape located in Flatiron, if you’re based in New York.
I am currently in the process of filling my room with art. The walls of my bedroom are pretty bare, but I have a few pieces on my wish list, as well as some items on the way. Over my desk I have a wire wall grid that doubles as an inspiration board and giant reminder of all my to-dos. It’s awesome because I can hang photos and memos, so I won’t forget a thing!
